Calvinism

As a Reformed Church we adhere to the theology of the Westminster Confession of Faith. Meahwhile, much of the world outside our church is far more aware of "Calvinism" than it is "Reformed Theology." In this Sunday School class we are going through the "Five Points" of Calvinism, investigating them from the perspective of the Bible and our Confession, seperating the facts from the fiction.

If you choose to listen, please understand that our Sunday School classes are informal discussions within the life of our church. This is not meant to always be the final word on our theology, it is more akin to a hearty discussion over a family meal.

Introduction to Theology - Part I: In this discussion we try and lay the foundation for what theology is and how we do it. (Oct 6)

Introduction to Theology - Part II: What makes a good theology? What makes a bad theology? What is the aim of theology? (Oct 13)

Introduction to Arminianism: Where did Arminian Theology come from and what does it actually teach? (Oct 20)

Total Depravity: What are the effect of sin in our life and how far does it reach? Similarly, how does new life in Christ change things? (Oct 27)

Unconditional Election: What does it mean that God predestined his children to savlation? How can we make sense of this? Or should we try and make sense of this? (Nov 3)

Limited Atonement: For whom did Christ die? What did Christ's death acheive? To what extent should "Calvinists" defend this doctrine? (Nov 10)

Irresistable Grace: How does God bring about salvation? Who does he "call" and what does that mean? (Nov 17, taught by David Brown)
